Dear Emily

Dear Emily,

Today was your 4 year old check up with the pediatrician (although I like to think of it as more of a 'four and a half year old check up').

I just wanted to say that when the Dr commented on how athletic you are, and asked what types of activities you like to do, I think he would have loved to hear about swimming, ballet, zumba, ice skating or bike riding. You know - all those activities that you love and do on a regular basis.
I don't think 'fighting with my sister' was quite the answer he was expecting.

I also think it was great that you told him how hard you tried during your eye test. He agreed you had done very well indeed, so I think it may have come as something of a shock to him when you demanded he give you new 'blue, Pooh, Thomas, manatee' glasses. He said you are the first child in all his years of practicing as a pediatrician who has actually wanted glasses, although he did say he wasn't totally sure that 'blue, Pooh, Thomas, manatee' glasses actually existed...

Still it was great that after he got you to walk, hop, and stand on one leg, you offered to show him how you climb the door frames at home.
Another proud parenting day for me.But then who wouldn't want to be the Mummy of the little girl who wears odd socks, loves blue, Pooh, Thomas and manatees, climbs door frames, writes backwards, fights with her sister, and never stops moving?

I love you Emily, and wouldn't change the amazing little person that you are you for anything.

Love Mummy.

  1. Brilliant! I love this post. She's totally great and unique, and I am very impressed with your photography at capturing the 'letting go' of the door frame.
